I’m all for web-based technology, in fact I’m a firm believer that many desktop clients should be web-fronted instead of heavy GUI code, especially in small businesses. However, all these applications appearing lately, enabled by Ajax are begging the question of “how far is too far?”. This latest application that I have come across is a video editing app enabled by Ajax (http://eyespot.com/). Okay, it’s not rocket science or anything like that but one would have to question the need to do such via web front end rather than traditional and far superior desktop apps, if for no reason other than file transfers alone.
