Dreaming of an ice Christmas

  • by

Snow still covering the ground this morning, the habitually stupid still believing that bald tires and acceleration will get their car up a frozen hill at all hours of the morning. My neighbour and I went out to crack away some of the ice from the speed ramps near our homes, to give the passing cars some extra traction on the hill while others desperately tried to give cars on the hill, a gentle push forwards – snow really brings out the community spirit in people. Some of the ice under the snow was about 0.5 cm thick, that’s pretty serious for a day of harsh weather. Birds scurrying about seeking food, icicles hanging precariously from a lampost, and snow covered conifer branches more befitting of Aspen than Waterford. Still, you can’t but feel happy in such weather. What’s seldom seen is truly, wonderful.
