Old Sci-Fi makes me smile

  • by

Sitting down earlier today I was idly flicking channels when I came across Destination Moon on Film 4. One of those classic sci-fis that were truly ahead of their time. Shot in the 50’s, prior to the Moon Landing it was incredibly prescriptive of Apollo 11’s later voyage. Anyhow all praise aside, when the point in the movie arrived such that Earth made contact with the moon landing crew, the host of the radio show cut in and explained to the audience why there was a delay in the response received from the astronauts. He said, “It takes 3 seconds, even at the speed of light, for radio waves to reach the Earth from the Moon”. I smiled 🙂
