Nice shot.
I could do with picking up a good photography book or going to a class.
There’s a massive difference between a professional and amateur shot, but I can’t identify the individual differences.

As for identifying amateur vs. professional: My shot is an amateur one. 🙂 A pro would have far more expensive equipment than I and would have been able to acquire a much closer image with a less distracting depth of field, i.e. the blurry foreground spike and the slightly focussed lily pads would be greater blurred and sole focus would be on the Damselfly that would appear even bigger. However it would still be a chance photo and the pro probably wouldn’t have been able to ask the Damselfly to pose like I did. 🙂
