Technorati – I did it!

Some time ago I set out to achieve something in the blogosphere: To improve my level of visibility in the world and to measure that using Technorati. I have been doing a number of things to help with this, some of which I will divulge others are trade secrets. πŸ™‚ When I started my journey a few moons ago my blog ranked somewhere around the 250,000 mark in the world. Today I am very proud and happy to announce that my goal of breaking into the top flight (at least my level of the top flight) has been achieved and my blog currently ranks at position 2334 in Technorati. Not a bad improvement I think you’ll agree? Now that I have gotten there I have to try to keep it going. I took a screenshot of the ranking (below) just in case I fall by the wayside and need a memory of the past. Currently I think this places me as one of the top ranked Irish blogs in Technorati, no pressure now. πŸ™‚

  1. Hi Paul,

I can see you’ve been frustrated with Technorati in the past, and rightly so. There were a number of factors effecting my burst into the top 2500 blogs some of which I had control over and some of which I was purely lucky to be part of. A while ago I noticed that a lot of feed aggregators were picking up my blog entries and republishing them. So I thought it would be nice to start using some “free” and “choice” words to attract more aggregators and help them to ping Technorati with my blog URL on their pages. πŸ™‚ That’s just on part of the story. New blogosphere chums of mine also helped a lot based on new indexing policies applying to their blogs and where I had positioned my URL in them. Long story short though, there are a lot of referencing sources out there that don’t ping Technorati. πŸ˜‰ If only I could manage the same for FeedBurner subscriptions and Irish Blog rankings. Something else to aspire to I suppose…

  2. For the feedburner stuff , shameless self publicity will never do you any harm πŸ™‚

I’d be more upset about the technorati stuff, but I reckon that most of my target audience arrive via google, so I’m concentrating my efforts there …

    Paul
