I confess that before reading Bernie’s blog this morning, I had never heard of Kurt Vonnegut, recently deceased. However, upon reading some of the quotes provided, I wish I had and will most likely rectify the situation as soon as I can track down his material. While I cannot yet claim any impact of his works on me, one quote that Bernie used will probably stay with me forever:
“Here is a lesson in creative writing. First rule: Do not use semicolons. They are transvestite hermaphrodites representing absolutely nothing. All they do is show you’ve been to college.”
I wish I had my Vonnegut books with me as I’d give them to you to read. If nothing else, read Slaughterhouse 5. The rest are brilliant too.
Required reading for… well… everyone 🙂
Thanks for the recommendation Paul. I’ll be sure to put it to the top of my search in the book stores. The title is intriguing – I eagerly await to discover what lies beneath
