You would think in this day and age that the Irish government would be more concerned with improving road safety and lowering dead tolls than they would be with trying to generate revenue from those who violate road safety regulations? Sadly it would appear that this is not the case. This latest proposal to the cabinet, to privatise speed cameras across the country is headlined with the clause “more than 70 million could be raised in the first year of the system’s full operation”. Who cares how much revenue could be generated from this? Surely this is missing the issue altogether? Am I the only person who still believes that road safety is not linked to revenue creation? It’s disgusting! source: Irish Times
